Google bought Motorola Mobility for 12.5 billion dollars - Google

English version

The news of the day is that Google bought Motorola Mobility for 12.5 billion dollars.
What does this mean?
The importance of this transaction is clear - Google enters into the world of mobile communications with all force.
At this moment, Motorola has been one of the companies that bet on an
Android platform for their mobile phones. With this acquisition Google, except that it has Android, will start producing mobile phones and other communication tools.
Thus the company will become a real competitor to Apple, Microsoft and Nokia on the IT market.
Furthermore,
with this deal Google acquired the patent portfolio of Motorola, which consists of approximately 17,000 patents.
This is an important step in the strategy of Google given that a month ago the company lost the deal for the patent portfolio of Nortel bought by Apple and Microsoft.
In short, the global competitive battle on the IT market is becoming increasingly complex and increasingly fierce.
The question now is how companies like
HTC and Samsung will react. They are partners of Google because they currently use Android. Actually by this way Google becomes their competitor on the market of mobile communications.
Another interesting thing in this case is how completely virtual company like Google is materializing in the real market by offering real tangible products.
This is an example of the strength of intellectual property as an asset. Google actually shows how intangible assets can be a starting point for creating new markets and their materialization in the form of products. So here we have a transition from virtual to physical business.
