McDonald’s - The Russian Patent Office stopped McDonald's trademark

Russian Patent Disputes Chamber

English version

Marques Class 46 has reported about a refusal of the Russian Patent Office concerning the registration of a trademark Chicken Bacon filled by McDonald's, which sell sandwiches with that name in Russia.
According to the Office two words which form this trademark Chicken and Bacon are descriptive regarding the ingredients in the sandwiches.
McDonald's appealed on the ground that the mark is distinctive and
associative. It is written in English and there is no meaning for Russian consumers.
The Russian Patent Disputes Chamber upheld the decision, rejecting the arguments of the company.
