Известното френско сирене Gruyère получи защита, като географско означение в Европа, след решение на Европейската комисия, което може да откриете тук.
Против тази регистрация бяха подадени възражения от Швейцария ( която също е известна със своето Gruyère сирене), САЩ, Нова Зеландия и Австралия.
След проведени преговори Франция успя да прокара регистрацията на географското означение при условия че срещу Gruyère се изписва и Франция.

The famous French cheese Gruyère has received protection as a Geographical indication in Europe after the decision of the European Commission which can be found here.
Against this registration were filed objections from Switzerland ( also worldwide known for its Gruyère cheese), USA, New Zealand and Australia.
After negotiations, France was able to push the registration of its Geographical indication under conditions that together with the name Gruyère will be written France too.
