Според специалисти обаче целта на Google е чрез тях да подсили своята платформа Android, която е под натиск от съдебни дела заведени от конкурентите на компанията.
В момента Google са започнали да лицензират своите патенти на партьорите си, като например HTC, които са в няколко съдебни дела с Apple.
Целта на Google е да изгради стабилно защитно патентно портфолио, което да послужи, като защита за всички компании ползващи Android.

Bloomberg reported the news that Google bought 1,030 patents from IBM and another 1,023 patents last month. It is not mentioned in what technological field exactly those patents are situated.
According to experts, however, the purpose of Google is to use them to enhance the protection of Android which is under pressure from lawsuits brought by competitors of the company.
Currently, Google started to license its patents to their partner, such as HTC, which is in several lawsuits with Apple now.
The Google's goal is to build a solid defensive patent portfolios which to serve as protection for all companies using Android.
